Yup. I like the front (although not really ground-breaking) and the front quarter panel vent but it always looks like it sits too high off the ground and I never liked Jason Castriota’s signature floating roof pillars. Taillights look kinda unresolved for me too.

I doubt it, the design choices they made for the 3 was boldly stupid. Expensive windshield and rear window glass but they stuck the entire IP onto a single center screen for cost cutting and a trunk made useless thanks to that rear window again.

Honda and Toyota’s designers have to deal with the marketing dept. and focus groups who tell them how to design, like a CEO of a local bread shop ordering around his web designer. Mazda’s designers at Cali and Japan have so much more freedom and it shows.
