The HEI ignition swap helps immensely (when combined with a vacuum advanced dizzy and older carb). Hotter spark, a little more power, better fuel consumption, and it starts every dang time. slantsix.org has all the info. I did mine last spring using a GM HEI module, a Ford coil, and a 1920 Holley 1bbl.

They are stock 15's with the 80's era caps on them. I picked them from a parts yard, media blasted them, then shot them with engine block black and mounted 235/75r15 tires on it.
Another option is to buy the home you want and then build the garage you want/need. Aside from the headache of dealing with the city planner, it is much more satisfying.

My neighbor had a Hurst/Olds from the same era in Silver/Black/Red. I lusted after that car for years. He sold it, in damn near mint condition, for @ $2k in the late 90's. I still regret not snapping it up.
