Most of the car shows out there are the worst car shows on television.

Sheesh, no one can leave the black spray paint behind and have nice steel wheels. Even the door handles? Sorry, but it doesn’t look any racier, newer, or better. ND just for the rattle-can repaint of the wheels.

84 month loans are ridiculous only because that’s about when even the most reliable car is going to need some sort of repair.

Plus, you never see them at the Home Depot dragging home cinder blocks or landscape materials, just 50 lb. bags of dog food from the local Publix or (insert favorite grocery store name here).

High school buddy of mine had a ‘76 Pinto hatchback in the same shade of brown. Heck, I could go retrieve this car, too, close enough to my house. But not $7500 close enough. Maybe $5k?

The only car sold in America with a decent color pallet:

Olds was always near-luxury, right? Buicks and Cadillacs, those were luxurious:

We can now go 100,000 miles between tune-ups and 7,500 miles between oil changes.

Third row for the most unruly children. Can’t let them ride up front, too tall to sit in the back seat, so you’re gonna ride backwards all the way to Grandma’s.

Had an ‘84 Escort stick with the upshift light.  I got 50 mpg out of that car, not bad for it not being a hybrid.

from this...

Back in the ‘70s, everyone was playing tennis, it’s true.

Ugh, I don’t like states using the terms ‘classic’ for cars over 25 years old. Seeing a ‘96 Sedan DeVille with ‘classic’ plates makes me want to scream.

Something interesting to take to a car show and make everyone ask, “What is that?” Chip away at restoring it until it’s perfect. Then you can finally get your initial cash outlay returned. For the serious car nut only. NP

With an eight gallon gas tank, no less.

My adult daughter lives in SE Ohio, so I understand exactly what you’re saying.

We don’t have a federal headlight standard, for brightness or height. handsome a vehicle as it was, my Nissan Rogue Sport had awful headlights, especially in poor visibility, and didn’t feature the optional foglamps.

I’ve been scanning the low end of the market for a first car for my daughter. Corollas at the same price point as this Versa are 1999-2001 models with a quarter million miles on them. The current used car market is insane enough without paying $3k for an almost-25 year old car.
