Yeah, you probably could make a case for that given the EXP was killed off at about the same time.

Somehow I’d always believed that Ford tried to do a ‘second Mustang’ with the EXP/LN7, — a sporty car based on a plebian platform. Then they tried it again in the 90s with the ZX2/Escort ZX2.

Please stop calling me Katie Couric, you know that’s not my name.

it was not a high water mark for Ford

You used your friend’s truck or station wagon to lug it home when you couldn’t use your own car. My dad had an Olds with a V-8, but darned if he didn’t need the help of his friend with a Datsun pickup to bring that second-hand couch home.

I really like how that rolls off the tongue: Reliant Scimitar. My mom’s high school yearbook was called the scimitar, from back when they named yearbooks. I guess maybe the pen is mightier than the sword?

8th to 9th generation Chevy Malibu:

That’s what you get when you hire former Audi designers.

Maybe because it’s smaller than the Ranger?

Perhaps there will be a 2-liter EcoBoost version coming soon?

Why does it resemble my former ‘80 Ford Fiesta? Outgrowth of the styling of the era, perhaps? Or did someone steal from someone else?

Why can’t you just pop them out and exchange one side’s light fixture for the other side? Too hard?

The tent made me think that someone could get a palm read there, but then I saw those guys in black...

And we all thought the Mustangs and Camaros of the 80s were the first 2-door pursuit vehicles!

Overpriced? I don’t care. Nostalgia takes the day! NP.

Did anyone notice there appears to be some sort of adult, sitting on the ground leaning against the front bumper?

A friend once had a mechanic tell her, “Old car, low mileage, big problems.”

Two of the best drivers I’ve ever known are my mom and my wife. My 30-year-old daughter is carrying on this tradition.

It’s a ‘59 Chevy and a modern Malibu, but yeah, that ol’ Chevy comes out a big-time loser in a head-on collision.

Traction control was a game changer when it came out in the early 2000s and today makes RWD cars just as good in the snow as most FWD cars. Unless you have no ground clearance, like on a Camaro maybe.
