I had a MK6 Golf R, and would’ve gotten a MK7 Golf R if that was still my budget (it’s higher now, so I went up a few levels). It’s a fantastic car and drives like something much nicer; you won’t regret it. I can’t recommend it enough.

G8 was my favorite car I’ve ever had, by far. Clearly wasn’t g8v84life. Now I have a grand Cherokee v6. Way to practical, I hate it.

I’m not sure your expectations for light weight are realistic. 2600lbs is 200lbs lighter than my old E30 which was a tiny car by comparison.
Even a BRZ without the added weight of a turbo or beefed up drivetrain to take the power is 2800lbs.

The rears are fine, I like they kept the rears streamlined and simple. Unlike some other cars you can really over do it..
