If you didn’t think your opinion was law then you wouldn’t get up in arms about the idea that people may not be using trucks for their “intended purpose” whatever the fuck that means.
1: A truck can haul a boat or camper or trailer or whatever, that constitutes “intended purpose”
You know what really paints someone as a douchenozzle? When someone gets all sanctimonious about how other people spend their money because it infringes on some contrived code of conduct you learned from circle jerking with other lonely, thoughtless, losers on the internet who have no meaningful place in the world.
A truck can do everything a Mercedes can and haul a boat and load the bed with shit if you want to... did you really need someone do explain that to you?
you shouldn’t speak with any authority against anyone’s choices because that’s what decent humans do...
the road is not an open environment though, there are very strict rules of the road, paths are well defined and the number of possible options at any moment is very limited. Computers have evolved in power and performance but are still written by people. It’s going to take a very long time before people write the code…
it makes sense for large repeatable processes like the one shown, but for like general contracting work, the environment is a lot more dynamic
was there really no patch of grass they could have driven over?
To dynamically implement so it’s not as cumbersome as just using a steering wheel is an incredibly difficult user interface problem that no one has frankly even begun to think about how to solve.
1: what if you want to back up to something?
that’s what you’re going to see in the next 5-10 years. 10-20 year you’ll see point to point. EG your house to your work. maybe 20-30 years from now we’ll have an elegant way to control cars without hand/foot controls but that is very far off
driving a car is easier than riding a bike, pretty much anyone with working eyes, 1 leg, and 1 arm can drive so teaching people to drive the last bit which will likely be at low speeds is a non issue. Also a car that can drive itself 99% of the time could prevent the driver from doing something stupid during the 1%…
Safety issue aside. Imagine a situation where a computer can’t figure out what to do. For example, driving a truck around a worksite to load up and drop of bags of shit. Or finding parking off road at some event. How is an autonomous car going to figure that out? Easiest way is to have the driver pilot the car in.
Will there be a Drake mode where it goes 0-100 real quick?
.02, A supplier fucked up really, really bad.
clearly. have you no culture?
me.
You want the tip of the spear to be pretty sharp so it can penetrate the enemy and allow the army to flood in behind it.
Jesus buddy. Finland is socialist, Sweden is socialist, nothing in the middle east has ever come close to resembling socialism
