there are some benefits to large companies to have the dealer network, for example, the manufacturer can dictate to the dealer that in order to get x amount of high volume, large profit margin products, like trucks, they'll have to buy y econoboxes too. it's that it's too quiet for people's taste. sound deadening has gotten so good in cars today that you wouldn't hear the engine at all. Also the turbo eats a lot of noise
