I wished for an October Surprise. This is like a month of Halloween. Like, after a few days, it’s not fun, anymore. You ate all your good candy, you have a stomach ache, you have to figure out what to do with the shitty candy, and your parents won’t let you take off your costume or wash off the day’s old makeup.

This election isn’t just a dumpster fire, it’s a dumpster fire careening down a hill, causing traffic accidents and slamming right into the side of an orphanage.

i was just saying, the emotions i felt listening to this is like when you are really upset and someone hugs you and tells you they understand, and it only makes you cry harder. Those were the tears. Understanding, validation, acceptance.

I don’t have any substantive words of comfort to combat the ugly, hateful rhetoric that has been spewed at us this year. But I am here with you, and I really do believe that bringing this repugnant bigotry to the light will truly expunge some of it. Maybe not all, but some. Hang in there.
