snadwich may not be able to upgrade for one reason or another. I've got some apps that work fine under Snow Leopard but won't work under Lion since they're Rosetta-based, so I'm at the end of my upgrade cycle myself.

Expanding on corpore-metal's comment, modern physics seems to imply (as opposed to absolutely proven, which nothing actually attains) that space and time are the same thing, having inflated into a three spatial dimension plus one time dimension universe that we have now.
