snadwich may not be able to upgrade for one reason or another. I've got some apps that work fine under Snow Leopard but won't work under Lion since they're Rosetta-based, so I'm at the end of my upgrade cycle myself.

Just keep in mind that Bezos (and probably most of his crew) are American. The United States is a signatory to that treaty, which means that as long as he wants to keep his nationality he's obliged to obey its terms. If he were a citizen of a non-signatory country, you'd have a point.
