@exoren22: True, I suppose. But I mainly think for getting Handbrake to work you need to install libdvdread4 and to run install-css.sh as stated in the link.

@exoren22: On Ubuntu 9.10 and 9.04, just make sure you can play dvds and have VLC installed (not sure if vlc is required) and Handbrake should work for you: [help.ubuntu.com]

@icedicicle: um, if you just upgraded yesterday, you most likely got most of the features in the RC. All you have to do is grab the latest updates and you'll be running the "RC." The pre-releases (alpha5, beta, RC, etc.) are just snapshots of the running development release. In other words, if I upgrade 2 weeks

@nortexoid: I'm doing a fresh install for the first time since the 8.04 beta simply because I haven't upgraded to ext4 yet (and it'll be good to clean up some of the cruft that's built up over the years...) I've upgraded between every version. It should be safe enough. Things can get a little goofy once and a

Despite the fact that I dislike FB's walled garden, the central service makes things more interesting. Being able to navigate my photos and see how many times "Jim" is tagged is ok, but having Jim know how many time's he is tagged is better. Better still is having Jim's friends know when he's tagged. That last one

I wonder if there's any chance that they'll offer FLAC downloads... #music

@Craig Cabrey: That's the plan from now on, I believe :)

Ubuntu users can grab the latest version from Christoph Korn's VLC PPA: [launchpad.net]

@ShinMai: Somehow I missed this whole "hide" thing. Thanks!

I think the Facebook News Feeds need a way to mute people. There are some people I'm friends with and it's all they do is fill out quizzes and try to send me applications. I'd like an easy way to ignore their daily activity but not socially affront them by un-friending them (and plus I'd like to be able to

@MrJenkins: I think they were talking about Linux, not the "free" Win 7 RC...

@muteboy: Pineapple contains ascorbic acid (vitamin C), which is used in the hydroxylation of proline and lysine. This is important for proper collagen formation. Collagen is vital to proper wound healing. Lack of ascorbic acid in the diet causes scurvy.

@Jonny Ruddell: I thought that as long as it's marked as "executable", Nautilus will do as Confuzius says no matter what the file extension is, but I could be wrong...

The problem I see with it is that it seems too mouse-centric. With the number of notebooks and netbooks being sold these days that use touchpads, who's going to want to be clicking and dragging things all over the place? Maybe once touchscreens come into play more, but I feel like their right click menus might

Gnome-Do has had a nice RTM plugin for a few weeks now :) [do.davebsd.com]

Well if anyone at Google's listening, I'd like to see video chat availabe on Linux, especially with their constantly improving webcam stack.
