@jblackhall: I meant to say that the CD images are not available on the link in your post. Only DVD and some other miscellaneous ones. You should link to the one above instead.

might want to change you link to [www.ubuntu.com] so that the cd images are available

@Punch Rockgroin: Bluetooth and PulseAudio are both being worked on afaik. I know that bluetooth support should definitely be better in Jaunty. I'm pretty sure PA too.

@Oneshot417: Ah so you trimmed down and customized XP to get a super-fast boot time and compare it to a vanilla Ubuntu install that takes significantly longer? That doesn't make any sense. If you're that concerned with boot time, try out something like Puppy Linux or even better, Moblin Alpha 2: [www.phoronix.com]

@Riistetyt: Make sure you have the dkms package installed if you're using a non-official nvidia driver (i.e. not suppied by Ubuntu). That should help when upgrading the kernel to make sure your graphics configuration is preserved.

You didn't mention FreeFile from the IRS website. Anyone who makes under $56,000 (gross) can file for free using some online websites. I've used Taxslayer to do this for the past few years, and I highly recommend it. Much better than paying for any tax software. They do a good job of helping you get stuff done

@edmicman: The Ubuntu Art Community is currently working on a set called Breathe that's shaping up very nicely. You can see some of their work on the "categories" icons here: [wiki.ubuntu.com]

Vote: PuppyLinux

For those with 64-bit, Do isn't available from the PPA because of an issue the devs are having with Launchpad and Mono. You can grab a 64-bit deb here: [launchpad.net] . I believe you'll also have to grab the newest gnome-do-plugins manually here: [launchpad.net]

@Sarcastic Steve: Gnome-Do keeps track of your most-used programs and lists them in the dock. It's fully customizable, so you can add or remove stuff, but it's nice to have launchers pre-made for you.

Why does LH always seem to try out software and write a review of it like a day or two after I tried it. We must be inspired by similar things :)

@penguiniator: I actually appreciate that there's a pre-made distro that will do this for me. I know I could search around and have to make a decision on every single ubuntu package and whether there's a lighter weight version available or whether it's actually adding anything useful to a lightweight setup. But in

I agree with Brian Lucas. This alpha is already more stable for me than their 0.6 release, which I felt had a few bugs. This new one is running great! I haven't messed with Docky much yet though.

As Igor above pointed out, this Linux proof of concept is much more exciting. How about 5 seconds?

@meyersmp: Drupal + "Recipe" module? tbh, Drupal + CCK would probably be just as easy. Not sure what exactly the recipe module would give you that you couldn't do yourself with CCK.

@wjh31: I would give it a shot. They added some new ATI drivers that are working pretty well from what I've heard: [www.phoronix.com]

@th89: "If you'd prefer to have users see a preview page instead of sending them to your URL directly (so they can be confident where they're going), simply add a hyphen (dash) to the end and use [is.gd]"
