Back in the day (around the time cell phones first started emerging as an "everyday consumer" device), I remember the solution for a soaked phone was to stick in the refrigerator for a day or so. I think it's basically the same principle; the air condenser in the 'fridge works the same way as in your car or home; they

Happy holidays, everyone.

@Robomaster: It looks like the test is measuring only Javascript speed, not every-day, all-around web loading...

@Xplorer² User: Sorry, nevermind; I figured it out. If anyone else had the same problem I did, you just have to resize your taskbar by grabbing the top edge and sliding it up vertically a little. Then you can move another toolbar on top of it. I also noticed that you can get away with reclaiming a few pixels by

@Xplorer² User: Can you tell me how you were able to place the Quick Launch Bar ABOVE the Taskbar? I read the link you posted, and I've been able to create a Quick Launch Bar and everything, but for some reason I can only slide/move it horizontally; like expanding it, or placing it to the left of the Jumplist Taskbar

@steven_m_s: You got that right; this thing is unnecessarily way too big. No idea why the author didn't add a sizing option; it's actually a nice gadget, but I just can't use it because it's so large.

@Sean Harrington: The data transfer speed of a USB thumbdrive is slower than your hard drive; even at 5400RPM. If you're putting your pagefile on a thumbdrive, it's going to access that data slower than your HDD would.

@Ben McCormack: I've found that MSConfig occasionally misses startup entries that third-party startup management programs find, especially the more malicious type.

VOTE: CCleaner

I had never used Netvibes before, so I didn't have much to lose by trying out this upgrade. But so far, it looks like most people are right; it's barely usable in its current build. I'm looking forward to checking it out more when they get the beta working, because it looks like it might make a good Google Home

I can vouch for the "oil" part of this method. In a previous post, I commented about rubbing baby oil on my stubble before I shave, and letting it sit for a couple minutes or so. Then I lather regular shaving cream on top of it, and it made a substantial difference in the amount of nicks, cuts and ingrown hairs that I

@ Pretty Much Every Commenter:

@PhillyBass: Thanks; like I mentioned in another reply above, I actually meant to say that I was thinking about trying out a safety razor, not a straight-edge. If those blades can give me just as good of a shave at a fraction of the price, I'm sold.

@FFxLORd: That's funny; I'm also Lebanese. Well, half Lebanese—hence my "half Mediterranean decent" comment.

Does the straight razor method really work better for those of us with crazy-coarse facial hair? I don't think most men understand exactly what we're dealing with; those of us with the "10-gauge-wire-beard" like the poster mentioned (great hyperbole, by the way). I come from half Mediterranean decent, and my hair is

The only thing that makes me a sad panda is when otherwise-qualified commenters slip through the cracks, and go unnoticed for months without being approved (or "starred")—despite their ongoing contributions to engage the LH community.

The way the BitTorrent community has evolved, this shouldn't phase you if you're taking advantage of public search aggregators like [www.torrentfly.org] — and especially if you're using private trackers.

@r0ckstarferlife: cmon man, you know how offensive it is to the gay community when you use that word in place of "stupid" or "weak"?

@dj-anakin: Look into the about:config setting that controls the time intervals that FF backs up your open windows and tabs...I dealt with YouTube and Flash video hiccuping for awhile, before I read about increasing that tweak. In my case, the hiccups happened every 9 seconds or so, which was also the default number

That G9 mouse is dirt-cheap for 39 bucks...makes me wish I would have waited before spending $89 on mine.
