I'm just trying to understand what market Google is trying to target with this OS; Netbook users, maybe?

@nobodyzhome: Yeah, I'm not too sure I like the idea of my friends and/or family stumbling upon some of my more personal messages, whether it's via Gmail or Facebook. I'd prefer there to be a way to lock your Facebook mail, for example, when you die, but still allow your family to convert your account into a memorial

Ugh. I get depressed when I read these articles, and I'm only 30. I think it's a smart thing to do; I don't consider it "morbid" or anything like that, but it's also kinda depressing to think about.

For the sake of accuracy in this H5, please don't just vote for RocketDock unless you've tried at least a couple other docks too.

That really is one of those "in 100 years, why didn't we think of that?" moments. #diy

@G.O.B.: Come on!: Previously, LH had a user tip to use the Windows "Run" box to paste formatted text to, then re-copy, to remove the formatting. Since then, I found out that you can do the same thing with Firefox by using the search bar (CTRL-F).

Will the system accept multiple tags, though? I couldn't figure that out. For example, what if I wanted to tag a post with "Firefox" and "Productivity?"

Something to keep an eye on. It kinda sounds like Gist, although I still haven't been able to get used to Gist's UI enough to replace the original sources yet. Maybe Mozilla will get it right; it wouldn't be the first time. #raindrop

@MCWHAMMER: I don't know about you, but I make a mean batch of roasted pumpkin seeds after I carve 'em up every year. An ex-girlfriend of mine used to use the pulp for pumpkin bread, like others do as well. And for all the millions of people who don't; hey, it puts money into the ag market and they're 100 percent

@MCWHAMMER: The funny thing is, what he described already exists out there on the Internet, for free and of better quality; e.g. [www.ninjavideo.net]

This is ridiculous: "It's time to start getting paid for broadcast content online."

@Archnemesis_Goldenhair: That's odd, and unfortunate. I'd really rather "bookmark" my favorite LH posts server-side, rather than add each one to my never-ending browser bookmarks, which is a huge, unorganized mess as-is. I really need to pick one of those "read-it-later" Web tools or FF addons and just stay with it. #

@SWC Oxcart: Yep, I actually did some experiementing awhile back to try and figure out why the applet was needed in the first place, but I didn't go into details in my original tip because I figured it would just make it sound more complicated. And like you said, the fact that the "streaming" is basically the same as

@Kunu: Not to mention, it's just solid. That's the best way to describe it; dependable, fast, highest-quality video and the admins are almost religious when it comes to posting every TV show every night, all in a streamlined, no-clutter format. Hook your PC/laptop up to your TV, and you've got a better "cable

@icecreamman: Direct Download Links; meaning sites that aggregate Rapidshare or MegaUpload links. It's just a straight HTTP download. The benefit is that if you have a premium account with a download service like Rapidshare, you can download files basically as fast as your bandwidth will let you. The downside is that

#tips Free Streaming TV, not Hulu: I haven't turned on my actual TV in 8 months!

Can someone please confirm whether or not the Lifehacker "Favorites" feature is working, or if the feature was removed? I would love the ability to bookmark my favorite articles through my LH profile, rather than actually bookmarking them with my browser. The LH "Help" section still lists the method to clip articles

@evilspacebunny: When I worked retail in a comic book store years ago, I learned a trick from my boss to scan credit cards that the scanner had a hard time reading:

On a related note, I read somewhere long ago that washing vegetables in cold water is better than washing them in warm water; I don't remember why, but for some reason I got the impression from the article that washing fruits and veg in cold water is actually safer...Anyone know why? Or if it's even true? As this

@adjohnson916: lol thanks for the tip; I never noticed Fission had that feature. Thanks for saving me ANOTHER addon install.
