Small cars are still a big thing but the problem is about sporty cars that at the moment are not viable if not electrified and too expensive and not sporty enough if electrified.

They aren’t trying because there is almost no market for those in Europe at the moment, the Megane R.S. is a brilliant car but it won’t get replaced with another ICE version.

It’s not that, it’s that Peugeot is not making any really sporty car except the 50 PSE at the moment, some CUVs like the 3008 and the DS7 have got the 300hp version of the hybrid4 powertrain but they are not sold as sporty cars.

The outgoing 308 GTi was the smallest and lightest of the category and one of the most entertaining to drive according to reviews (definitely more than a Golf), unfortunately it didn’t have the visibility and popularity of other models as it was not the most powerful or fastest at the Nürburgring or in a 0-100kph.
