Ever met a narcissist? They are the nicest people ever when they want to impress you, get you on their side, or get something from you. They can make you feel like you are the most important person in the world to them while they’re talking to you. It’s a skill they develop early to get what they want.

By most accounts, Trump’s MO is to scream about you in public but then be super conciliatory towards you in person. Even people who he has singled out as villains say he’s not the least bit confrontational or angry when you interact with him one-on-one.

It’s reasonable to ask them to do so if that is their job. If they don’t want to do it, no one is forcing them. Sometimes standing up for your rights means accepting sacrifice. I couldn’t refuse to do my job because I despised a client without getting fired. Most people couldn’t. The Rockettes are no different.

I think a lot of people have forgotten that part of protesting is facing the consequences of protesting.

I knew very little about trans people before she came out. It just wasn’t a topic that I thought much about.
