The show has prominent, complex roles for black women, Latinas, lesbian and bisexual women, and perhaps the first major role for a trans woman played by a trans woman, the wonderful Laverne Cox. There remains, however, one important group that the show barely, and inadequately, represents.

Then go after the male dominated media and ask them to make a better male dominated show set in male prisons. Don't use your soap box to get pissy at OITNB and basically demand they make it more about men because statistics.

Maybe this is unfair or unnecessarily judgmental, but I feel like this would be more funny/less sad if she didn't have some minor IRL connection to him. Like, if your wacky friend did this as a goof that went viral, it would be great, but knowing that this poor lady is just kind of counting the minutes until BC…

I don't agree with his decision to make his point using OITNB, but I also think the rage in response to the article is REALLY misplaced.

I think you bring up a good perspective on his background, and he is engaging with commenters on his own post, which is a pretty impressive way to engage his audience who strongly disagrees with him (cough cough cough j/k love you all).

I was trying to figure out how to put exactly that into words. Straight, white, cis men have no obligation to represent us, but when we try to represent ourselves, suddenly we're responsible for making sure they get even more representation....even though they refuse to return the favor.

I would love to see a show about male prisoners with such a humanizing perspective as OITNB. But OITNB is based on a book about a women's prison, I don't really know what this guy expects them to do.

I tried it for about a month. My hair was aaaaalways gross. I did try washing it with an egg (you know... just the whole egg, let sit for 20 minutes, wash out) and it helped. I gave up in the end because I met this guy and I didn't want to have dirty hair for the sexy times.
