That’s a bummer, leather does have some properties that just aren’t available with synthetics. Probably doesn’t matter for phone cases and watch bands, but gloves, motorcycle leathers, etc. its a bigger deal.

Cows aren’t raised for their hides; leather is a byproduct of meat and dairy industries. Not using leather doesn’t affect carbon one way or the other, except that it (potentially) just wastes more of the animal when it’s slaughtered.
