The case they replaced it with is literally coated in petroleum. All the fabric cases have a resin coating on each thread and resin is made from petroleum. So not only are they manufacturing casing using petroleum they are now including it within the product rather than just using cowhide which didn’t have petroleum…

And synthetics (made by chemical synthesis, especially to imitate a natural product) aren’t resource-intensive? The only thing possibly natural in that process is the raw materials but then you introduce a factory full of chemicals.

The original iPhone was like $300 which was pretty on par for a contracted smart phone in 2007. Other companies are selling VR for under $1000 these days... The price is what will drive this to crash.
