In Freakonomics they actually mention the high conviction rate is because they don’t even try and arrest people if they don’t have an open-and-shut case. I don’t know if that applies in Ghosn’s case.

I imagine a project like Hyperloop would be a public-private partnership in the beginning with a private company eventually taking full ownership and profits as well as the responsibility to maintain the infrastructure.
I assume this would be a plug-in hybrid scenario. So at home you’d plug in. The generator would only run when it’s sitting and not plugged in.

Back in 2011-2012 when they were probably formulating that specific part of the deal, electric cars seemed years away from the mainstream. A lot has happened in a short time. I’m not sure the FIA would have signed that same agreement today.
The ELR had huge modifications from both the Volt chassis and powertrain. It was not just a re-skinned Volt, which is why it ended up so expensive.
