Yes. About a Boy is probably one of the very, very few movies which is better than the book. The book was, of course, extremely dated by the time the movie came out, but the ending was written so well and could have only taken place on screen.

They spend a gazillion dollars on these movies so I always think that they could do really great NON-CGI things….like, CGI is best used as an "assistant" to non-CGI SFX.…
