After reading this, I came up with “summit”. Double meaning for me... I want to get to a level of fitness that I can backpack on multi day trips and hike up to 10 miles a day with a suitable pack. I hope to reach the summit of many mountains, and I want to be in “ peak” physical condition.

Curse you Lifehacker and your ill-timed announcements of awesome gear! I just declared yesterday that our household needed to go on a spending hiatus. Do you know how ridiculous I look when I exuberantly promote this new bit of gear as ESSENTIAL for my CPAP when we go to campgrounds where there’s no electric?!?

This article was tremendously resonant for me. Thinking I need to make it the first tab to load in my browser for a few weeks til it really sinks in. Great stuff!

The browsing experience on Shift is practically... pornographic. They definitely have presentation down pat. Not sure if I will be able to go back to Craigslist when it’s time to buy a truck now. The appeal of not dealing with dealers or Craigslist is very, very high.

This will never, ever change. Best solution for me is to assume this is going to happen and adjust my mindset accordingly. Applies to driving as well. I am much calmer as a result. yMmV

I have pre-decided that my comfort animl will be a badger. Because motherfucking COMFORT BADGER, BITCHES!

This is good timing. I am about to walk into a meeting with someone who qualifies. I hold fast to the perspective that my most effective spiritual teachers were antagonists. In that regard, this guy is fucking Mr. Miyagi to my Daniel-san.

I would argue that a propane-powered generator is a better option. You can run a 3500 watt rig for 8 hours on a 20lb tank. That tank can also be used for cooking, or hooked up to a portable instant hot water heater. They are much cleaner running and the fuel does not require rotation, nor is it as volatile

And in the same vein as AppSheet, Awesome Tables add-on for Google Sheets.

Take that spreadsheet to the next level - AppSheet.com - and make your own mobile app from spreadsheets.

I have an unnatural love of furniture that transforms. This tickles my furniture nerd bone. I will say that I would prefer standard peg board but this is still really cool!

Clicked on teaser hoping for something more meta, perhaps a review of the reviews of the fabled 3 Wolf T phenom. Left hungry for hot pockets in spite of the multiple recalls.

The closest thing I have found to a formula for happiness is the 12 step model in addiction recovery.

I like their aesthetic. Appeals to the nomad furniture fan in me.

Probably takes it out of the realm of “inexpensive”, but these seem like the thing to make it less cumbersome to adjust on the fly.

I find these videos that use a hand drawing out every “frame” to be distracting from the message. I have to just listen to the video in the background or I actually start to feel dizzy from all the movement!

Moved to Rio Nido just down the road recently. Can confirm. It is a wooly escapade.

Now playing

Just found this, after reading this article...

In recovery, this is what’s called “life on life’s terms”. The Serenity Prayer is a great mantra for distilling this down to its essence. Saves my mindset from getting derailed on a daily basis, and has probably saved my life more than once.
