You're right, I don't know any trans folks personally (as far as I know, I suppose), and haven't studied up on the subject. Frankly, most of the bits of info I do get comes from reading the stuff on this site. Although, most of (not all, but most of) the articles on the topic tend to skew more toward the public…

Well, that particular argument I don't think holds much water in this case...as far as I know, gender re-assignment doesn't remove any strength they may have had pre-op. I get what you're saying, but I don't believe it's a real point in this scenario.

...what makes you think they would be that much safer in a women's prison? I would imagine they would just as much a target for attacks and in just as much danger in whatever max prison they wind up in.
