Shhhhhh! We don’t talk about that.
Shhhhhh! We don’t talk about that.
I’m thinking a 3TNV84T is exactly the right amount of just barely enough for this application.
I still want a FoRS. For Reasons.
FieSTa owner here: Its a brilliant little car, and huge fun on public roads at legal speeds, but don’t forget, its got way more up its sleeve than most owners will ever use, myself included. Its limits are attainable by mortal men, that DOES NOT mean they are low.
Drifting is ALMOST NEVER the fastest way around a corner... it is, however, a lot of fun. The FoRS offers this fun to people who would have previously ended up backwards in a ditch trying to have that fun. As much as the “training wheels” Drift Mode is “cheating” I’m still OK with this. Also, evidence seems to be that…
yup, like I said elsewhere, I liked my Protege LX more, but the GT was a solid, fun little car and all the Mazda bits (most of what mattered) were exceptionally reliable.
My condolences.
Yep, the shorter wheelbase made it both a bit more skittish on loose surfaces and a little more eager to change direction on pavement, and the couple hundred pound lighter weight payed dividends in both acceleration and balance (though my Protege had MUCH better tires than the GT I drove, so I can’t speak to ultimate…
Thank god these were common before cell-phone cameras... my stuck-ass would have been posted all over facebook...
and it WILL break, and when it does it will cost it’s purchase price to repair... a contour SVT in good nick is a legit ball to drive though....
That doesn’t surprise me at all, that Mazda BP and that 5 speed transaxle are just astonishingly long lasting. they break if you try to make too much power, but the materials quality is so high they wear like freaken’ diamond.
Actually, I think most of them are from people who either owned or drove one. I owned it’s brother from another mother, a Protege LX. it was a GREAT little car. Remeber, this doesn’t have the 1.9 paint shaker and the Ford Crunch-O-Matic 5 speed, it has a Mazda 1.8L BP, one of the slickest little 5-speeds you could buy…
only 4 shy of 69... now im:
My ‘89 Protege LX (with the same 1.8 BP engine and 5spd) still ran perfectly with about 375k miles on it when I sold it. If they aren’t rusty this vintage Fordzda is nearly eternal, and though I like the Mazdas better for Reasons, this is a good deal for a not-boring, highly reliable, and fairly attractive '90's…
