Elephants are strong long distance swimmers — they can paddle continuously for hours, and they’re naturally buoyant so they can easily float to rest. Maybe mammoths were good swimmers also? Maybe this guy was just out for a casual swim, caught himself a float nap, and wound up in a ocean current or something.
