I was saying this the other day on an earlier Billy Bush article. I can't say whether or not he's an actual douche at heart (probably he is), but I don't think he realistically had the choice of not being a douche in that situation. He probably could have been a little less eager to play along, though.

RIP Dr. DeShawn Washington

As horrible as she is, I think the person who agreed to put her on TV has to be worse.

What an erudite put-down!

This is why I think us men have a responsibility not just to refrain from sexism, but to be openly and publicly anti-sexist. We need to be stating unambiguously to the people in our lives (as well as whatever strangers might be listening) that this kind of talk is unacceptable and we refuse to laugh and play along if

It is consistently the best section on AV Club, in terms of both the articles and the very insightful community of regular commenters. All the typical negative stuff that plagues a lot of gaming culture is basically nonexistent here and the discussions get a lot deeper and more interesting than what you see on most

With the number of Trump proposals that are fundamentally unconstitutional, the idea that he would come into office with a mandate to fill a vacant seat in the branch of government that exists specifically to prevent unconstitutional actions by the other branches should give anyone pause.

Yes, pretty much every straight male has made sexually explicit comments about women when in the private company of their close male friends. I personally don't think that's a bad thing in and of itself—if it's coming from a basically good-natured place and it stays in private, I don't think it hurts anybody.

According to NPR today, Ryan put the word out to all House Republicans that he's going to stop defending Trump and instead focus on protecting the Republican majority in the House, with the implication that some Republican incumbents are going to have to distance themselves from Trump as well if they want to hang onto

It's really weird that he only seems to do the sniff at the debates, and that it's been such a pronounced mannerism on those occasions. I'm not saying it's coke-related, but something's going on.

He munches a prop spider and juice squirts out of its butt.

Make no mistake, Trump's belated "outreach" to black Americans and sudden interest in inner city poverty was meant as a signal to moderate white Republicans that he's not really a racist like everyone says and it's okay to vote for him. And yet, he keeps his discussion of those issues couched in terms that reflect a

Honestly, I think John Wick is better than The Raid.

The first one might be the best idiotic killfest since Commando, and some of the fight choreography was way more gorgeous than it had any right to be. Very excited for the next installment.

It's not okay not to listen to the Allman Bros.

I don't think there's anything wrong with trying to elevate potentially weak source material, but I thought Gone Girl the novel was a superlative thriller that already had a lot going on besides the page-turner whodunnit stuff.

When has that worked? High Fidelity comes to mind.

That was actually pretty funny, would watch again .

Well, the last few years have seen such successful and award-winning movies as Creed, Straight Outta Compton, 12 Years a Slave, and Selma, and the upcoming Get Out has a lot of buzz and will probably be a big hit as well, so…probably, anyway?

I wouldn't say it has no basis in fact. The kind of situation described in this review was, sadly, not at all uncommon in the plantation system. Maybe the particular instance depicted in the film isn't based on a specific real-life instance, but it was common enough that I think you can include it in a historical
