The surprising thing is......there is already a Ghostbusters team that ticks those boxes. And it’s in the Comic Books surprisingly enough.

Who are these people who say it’s ruining their childhood? I haven’t seen any of that, but I have seen multiple claims that that and misogyny are the driving force behind the criticism of the new film, which just isn’t true.
The difference is, with Star Trek, they didn’t delete the old characters and present new ones that no one cares about. Imagine a studio saying, lets reboot transformers. But we’re going to get rid of Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and the rest. We’ll say they never existed! Then we’ll create new characters that no one had…
Here is what I don’t understand about Ghostbusters: Why did it have to be remade at all? If a reboot was wanted, make it so these were the new generation of Ghostbusters, who were trained/mentored by the original cast. BOOM. There you go.
So much of this (besides Ivan’s always awesome attitude) just rings so hollow to me . . . .
I don’t know what the internet does to people like you, that you think every conversation should be treated as an opportunity to be mean spirited and indulge in shallow ‘snark’. As though human interaction is a game or competition, and the object is to win or get the better of somebody or say something mean.

I’ve seen plenty of sites where the majority of men and women are complaining about the dumb jokes (seriously, Jaws and The Exorcist jokes in this day and age) and the stupid CGI (which folks rightfully say looks like rejected work from Eddie Murphy’s Haunted Mandion movie). If all your looking for is angry comments…
I know. I’m a total asshole for caring about the fact that no original screenplays are being purchased by the studios. I’ll submit your eyeroll to all my brilliant friends who can’t get their stuff made because it doesn’t feature the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Power Rangers.
It’s not exactly like it didn’t happen, because this reboot derailed long gestating plans for an actual sequel, and because nobody at the studios is spending money on original ideas anymore. Reboot culture has a very negative impact upon the industry and the culture.
Look at the title of the movie. It just says Ghostbusters, not Ghostbusters III, not Ghostbusters the Next Generation. It is a remake and the director has said so again and again.
Honestly, I haven’t seen any of those complaints being about their casting choices or the movie being an all-women thing (or if I have, its been very small)..what I’ve seen is people thinking that the movie just doesn’t look funny or entertaining for fans of the original Ghostbusters.
For example, I’m someone that…
I’ve never had any problem with the cast of this movie. I don’t know two of them, so can’t fairly cast judgement on their abilities even if I wanted to, which I don’t. I’m not the biggest fan of Melissa McCarthy, but she’s not horrible. Kristen Wiig I think is very good.
For a while now the actors and director of the new movie had been going on about how this wasn’t a remake. And then the trailers slows start to expose that it really is one.
