Ciao Francesco - I had responded but it did not register for some reason...First - thank you for you kind words. Second - IED is an excellent choice if you want to pursue a career at pininfarina or bertone. I have many ex-colleagues there and they often offer internships. I wish you all the best and please feel free

The modulo is the car that captivated me in a way that i didnt think a car could. the testarossa and the mythos show car were then final nails in the coffin. I knew i wanted to go to Pininfarina and design Ferraris

oh no. You have it figured out.

The best advice I can give is to not squander the opportunities you are given. Opportunities are not always "sexy". You never know when an insignificant side project , or a seemingly un-glamourous project will suddenly become very important. During my internship at pininfarina I designed a bumper restyling for

We need to start implementing materials that allow us to reduce mass and weight which will then have a dominio effect over the whole vehicle Cars will eb smaller and lighter which means engines and fuel tanks/cells can also be smaller and lighter.

I was given the homework assignment of retelling the saab story with one car. We wanted to capture the essence of the brand beginning with the bulbous nose cone like nose of the early cars - through the more linear 900 with its iconic c pillar and duck tail .

I would have to say the SSC as it captures the main themes that I always love to embrace - aero - function with volumes of a teardrop canopy suspended within merging volumes.

Not yet.

The car hasn't change that much in 100 years of existence so it is a constant challenge. As they say in literature - there are only 3 different stories to be told - but it is how you tell them and what twists and turn you create that make them unique. Until there is a radical departure in vehicle archieture we will

There are quite a few tricks one can play by playing with the proportions of the various elements you have at your disposal (wheel flats, fender flairs, the shoulder, the light catchers etc) however the best thing to do is just embrace what you have and not try to force something into being something its not. the NG

I love that they were so courageous inputting a bit of exotic car into such a mainstream model. The fusion has always been handsome - but this one really moves the chains for them Kudos to J and his team.

Thank you! We had several full scale design models and wind tunnel models. There were in fact also running prototypes as well (the phoenix Concept was built on one in fact). These are all locked away in storage somewhere in sweden and I dont know if they will ever see the light of day...

Thanks! Unfortunately no 3 door HB in the works. We would have loved to do it, but it wasn't in the biz plan. We were going to do a 2 door convt, and eventually a sedan and sport combi.

I have been fortunate that most of the projects I have been involved in have been very fluid with minimal compromise. Part of that is the benefit of working with small teams and on projects with tight time lines. The bigger the tema and the longer that timeframe to design the more difficult it is to pick a direction

Chris Bangle and J Mays hands down. Peter Shreyer has done a great job with elevating the Kia brand through design.

It is a toss up between everything getting larger ( We need to go the other way agai) and the niche upon niche. I think one could argue that too many choices inst always a good thing.

Thanks for the compliments but be nice to all my friends at Toyota and honda!

Both. there is a lot of cross pollination in design now thanks to the internet. It is amazing how much it has changes since i came into the business. At the same time, when something is deemed successful it is inevitable that other follow.

I will but dont have time now so I will send it to Patrick and he can post it.

The pivotal moment for me was when I saw the Modulo. I knew I had to be car designer. the 60 - 80's era Pininfarina and Bertone cars were equally pivotal. I love them all. As for my top 5 to have in my garage cost no object...hmm ferrari 312 p, ferrari 641 f1, Maserati A6 by pininfarina, Ferrari 360 CS, and I
