@jbarr: I completely agree. I love the concept and have been begging for a gmail feature to filter by size, but without some way of knowing that this service doesn't simply download the entire box in doing its work, it's simply not worth the risk.

I'm curious . . . does LH give a heads up to sites before writing about them? I mean, there's no reason to expect that any random site is always prepared for a 10,000% increase in traffic one day, which is probably what LH does to them. On the other hand, most site owners who've been plying their trade hoping to be

@GetOutOfBox: Ok, it took you 10 days to come up with that? And yes, there IS a reason to look down on someone for doing something they themselves acknowledge is ILLEDGAL and IMMORAL. That's exactly what looking down is FOR!

@AnonymousPenguin: For the record, I also speak a little bit of German, also know that the Nazi's name was Himmler, yet still had the exact same association you did. It's the same reason that luxury line of Polish cookware never took off in Asia. You remember . . . the Pole Pots ®.

@lewisboy: This might surprise you, but dumb is actually in the eye of the beholder. A product is not *objectively* dumb because you don't need it. You might not need eyeglasses, but it would make just as much sense to dismiss them as dumb.

@kellanpan: "Glympse is free and available for Android, iOS, and Windows Mobile phones"

@SQLGuru: Actually, I think we were both joking. :-) I'm assuming PrairieMoon is not actually using floppy discs, and I don't believe Ascii is a MS compression format.

One thing I've learned, especially when transferring files back and forth a few at a time, or to a potentially infected computer, is that 2 SD-card readers and 1 or more SD cards works better than thumb drives, for several reasons.

@Prairie Moon: Oh, it's easy. You just use a special save format in Microsoft Office called "TXT" format. Think of it as a somewhat lossy compression algorithm. :-)

@das7002: Hmmm . . . I'm not saying you haven't, but crossover cables are pretty commonly used for this purpose. I haven't used one in years because I find wireless txfr is usually easier, but back then at least you couldn't connect two PCs with a standard ethernet cable, you needed a crossover [en.wikipedia.org]

@crkbot: And portrait artists are saintly truthtellers!! :-)

@squozzer: LIAR! I'm the rightful King of Zamunda and ALL of the Zamundian territories!!

@enealio: I had the same thought as @skrymir01. There may occasionally be a lower fare than SW on a route that I fly but I'd never have thought to position SW as the high-priced luxury carrier I avoid in order to get a good deal. Unless it was between Southwest and Greyhound (who Herb Kelleher regularly thought of

@PatrickPortland: "simply to keep the vents unobstructed" . . . insert reproductive health joke here . . .

Hmmm, I think I saw this in an infomercial. Except they called it the Presto Purse:

@avatar003: Funny you should mention the pickup truck. As looked at the post I was thinking . . . "Hmmm . . . it needs more redneck . . ." And as it happens, you've nailed it! :-) Ok, I kid, the pickup truck would actually rock.

@jayteemo: LOL! That's exactly what I thought!!! Damn, it's only at 3GB . . . still 1 more GB to charge.

@Prairie Moon: Well, I think their shutting down their business *is* their problem. I love xmarks, but it's not as though there are no alternatives, or my online life will disintegrate without it. I'll just use something else, or manually copy my bookmarks folder around the various machines I use.

@Prairie Moon: Are you saying that someone offering a free service is committing to offering you that free service for the rest of time? XMarks has been free for YEARS. I don't think they gave away a service free for years as an elaborate ruse.

@GetOutOfBox: Wow, you realize the more you try to justify your deceit the more guilty you sound, right? I've never said that a phone CAN'T use as much bandwidth, but only an utter moron would suggest that ON AVERAGE phones use more data than laptops. Seriously, a drooling moron.
