No worries, sorry if I came off as a rant as well! I just think that as enthusiasts we tend to be quick to bemoan the death of the fun car as vehicles across the board get softer, bigger, more tech packed and lose manual transmissions while really we’re in a bit of a golden age for performance cars. Unfortunately the

Ya, combo of direct and port injection.

Two out of seven vehicles I listed are based on econoboxes, try again. You said that this Lotus is “literally the last gasp of the pure automotive experience” and I listed off some very attainable vehicles that still offer a pure autmotive experience at a variety of price points. You didn’t mention the supercar

I know it has, I just wish there was a factory supported supercharger for the current Tacoma like the previous generations.

I’ve never heard of the supercharger causing problems with the 1GR and I see 5VZ Tacomas/4Runners on CL with 150k+ miles that have had the supercharger fitted from new. It’s still a pretty new revision, maybe it’ll come along eventually.

How? Have you ever sat in or driven either?

Fiata, FRS/BRZ, Fiat 500 Abarth, BMW 2-Series, Fiesta ST, Jeep Wrangler, Alfa 4c, Shelby GT350, Porsche 718, we have plenty people just like to whip out their rose colored glasses and complain. That or say pure sports cars are too slow and more powerful ones are too fast.

Yeah whatever happened to the TRD supercharger for the Tacoma?? Also a slight variation of this engine.

Thinking about it more I definitely agree, especially if the Bronco does turn out to be platform mates with the Ranger. The 4Runner and Wrangler sell well but not *that* well and pretty much everyone who wants a midsize BOF vehicle is already in one of those, a Tacoma or a Colorado/Canyon. So it’ll give those few

Maybe I’m not who you should listen to because when I bought my Tacoma it was most closely cross shopped with a CPO Focus RS, CPO E90 335i and a Jeep Wrangler(In that order. It makes a little sense if I note I was going to one nice car from an E36 and a 2nd-gen 4Runner and equally enjoy ripping canyons and off-road

1. Most people who are buying a car also have jobs and therefore have to go on the weekend for ‘early in the process’ visits. I’m not taking time off of my job to consider spending tens of thousands of dollars on the vehicle you are selling.

Yeah!! Love or hate the whole overland scene it has produced a lot of cool options for turning your midsize pickup into a camper that are much nicer than the classic slide-in. If I ever landed my dream gig where I could spend some months or years working from the road that looks like a pretty ideal setup

True, but the Nissan is a very basic work van at its core and a factory job is almost always better executed than a conversion so the VW will undoubtedly be a much nicer vehicle, not to mention much more appealing engine and transmission options and AWD availability. Plus(as much as we like to pretend this stuff

HOW DID I NOT KNOW THESE EXISTED?!?

You know those conversion costs don’t include the van right? So for the ones with all the features the VW has you’re looking still at 40-50 grand

This. I have the same one in white. Watches never really excited me that much till I learned about automatics. Even though budget automatic race inspired watches aren’t really a thing I think some inexpensive autos should’ve made this list bc the ‘tiny little mechanical thing’ on my wrist hits the same fascination

100% agreement if you aren’t using it properlyor doing stupid mods. But 95% of the people I know with trucks also have boats or motorcycles or camp a lot etc. But also I don’t interact with the kind of people who would have bro trucks so it adds up.

The the 4wd 4door(ok I have a midsize shortbed) is for the weekend but it also happens to be able to go to work and back. I’ve tried to make the numbers work for also owning a small, efficient commuter but the gas savings barely offset insurance and estimated maintenance in the absolute best case. Not to mention

In my book a Raptor crossover could work if it was made appropriately nutty and an ST crossover could work if it was lowered to the point of being more like a tall wagon and could be had with a stick etc(think old Forester XT). This should be called the Edge Sport or something like that but they’re trying to use the

I don’t think people are worked up over a 330hp semi-sporty Edge being offered, people are worked up over the ST nameplate that used to actually be only for purely enthusiast oriented cars being diluted and stamped on an automatic crossover.
