What was the article update?
Okay, so after this post and the earlier one, I’m settling on “you’re from a fascinating alternate reality” and I’d love to study it someday.
Trying to figure out if you live in a fascinating alternate reality, or just learned economics from random forum posts.
It’s not fighting the technology, and continually framing it like this is just buying the corporate propaganda. It’s about using it in a way that isn’t exploiting the people it’s relying on to function; i.e. the artists, the actors, etc.
This is the argument that corpos have made every single time for increasing the minimum wage, and every single time it’s been proven wrong.
This is why a labor contract is necessary. If the publishers wanted to use AI as you describe, there would be a note in the contract stating that the voice actor’s recordings could be used specifically to generate “user profile entries, such as character name” or something of the sort. Probably with more qualifiers to…
Strike! Strike! Strike! Strike! Strike!
Same here with my group of friends. We’d played a little back in the day, but the forced-PvP pushed us out pretty quickly. Now we’re looking at forming the crew up again after this update lands.
Less than that, really. It’s easier to think of your two lead characters as a single combined protagonist. You can swap between them freely at campfires and it only changes minor dialogue depending on who’s in the lead. They’re not quite “silent protagonist” but are definitely left as rough character sketches for the…
That may well be their plan, but in this case, the trust factor is already broken for a lot of devs, and plans are already in place to migrate off Unity.
The “credible threat to Unity offices” came from a Unity employee, didn’t it?
Yeah, I don’t disagree. I honestly can’t judge how well the game stands on its own for newcomers. I feel like it would be fun, but some details wouldn’t make as much sense. But there’s so many unexplained things that even experienced FFVII players don’t get to know that I think the game would hold up.
Someone shifted timelines, anyway. Or the parallel alternates are merging, or something. But it was a distinctly alternate parallel that Zack came from, right down to the Stamp mascot being an entirely different breed of dog.
Yeah, there’s a lot to cover between Midgar and the Forgotten Capital. And apparently the “order we visit locations” will differ from the original story due to plot shifts? They were pretty geographically linear, so I wonder what kind of oddities we’ll be looking at...
Thiiiiiis. So tired of people losing their minds over Sephiroth and Cloud being shown together.
Exactly. It is so damn weird that there seems to be collective amnesia among those speculating about FFVIIR that the inn-flashback-scene existed in the original.
It was the only time that I’m aware of that a major RPG took a core party member that you could have invested a lot of time and emotion into and just... killed them outright, removing them from the rest of the game. It’s both the “beloved character” loss AND the mechanical hit to losing a character you may have relied…
I think this is also a BS binary argument. It can be crafted to sell a story piece by piece for profit, AND have an interesting story to tell that fits into the FFVII universe well. The problem is that the secret-twist-subtitle “Remake” has a bunch of people understandably pissed off who just wanted to see the…
I definitely understand and sympathize with this take. That being said, realizing that “Remake” was a subtitle and not just a descriptor was a helluva twist and... I kinda loved it? I get the disappointment from people who were really invested in seeing the original plot in HD, but that’s the kind of twist you really…
Zack seems to have been shifted across from a theoretical timeline where he survived, to this one (or the party shifted to his?), in the current time, after the plate drop. He’s seen interacting with the survivors staying at the church after the party leaves Midgar.
