No, there has to be enthusiasm to do the show for 30+ years. I just think very early on they decided to mail it in and stick to a formula — come up with a bad pun headline (I picture 3 hour meetings to decide each one), read the marketing literature (why would anyone else utter the words "sports activity vehicle")

John Davis was replaced by a robot in 1986.

Like all the other similar letters in the alphabet — bed, ced ded, ed, ged, ped, and ted.

In addition to the 3.5 feet hanging over the curb

I'm a fan of the space program but I'm confused as to its current state. Can someone set me straight?

Same thing happens here, notably in Vegas. They get off their private jets and indulge in things they couldn't get away with at home, let alone what the average person in their home countries could do.

They gave it a really over-the-top garage band treatment for the last 3 years or so, trying way too hard.

4:51 — looks like they didn't bother to extend the exhaust when they extended the trunk by a foot, LOL GM.

Wow, John's delivery was subdued in 1990 and wasn't the yukky disc-jockey voice we get today.

If I had to guess it's the aversion to the hatchback body style (as it says "cheap") and by extension anything swooping from the rear glass... I think gigantic trunk sheetmetal was also what they were going for — as opposed to modern cars where the trunk sheetmetal is minimal but trunks can still be huge... Look at

That seems to be the summary of GM in the 80s — innovative ideas, piss-poor execution ruined by the beancounters. Fiero would probably be the poster-child.

Why yes, I traded down from a Porsche 911 GT3 to get my stylish Camry SE.

Words

Never thought I'd miss the "Good Old Days" of Puff Daddy and J. Lo.

One lap of Earth in 90 minutes...

I've had one as a rental twice... Reasonably quick but my overall impression is that it's a clip-on tie — if you saw a picture of it in a magazine you'd say "nice job" but in real life it was like one of those fake hollywood western sets — all facade.

Didn't they already do a 991 review and complained about the electronic steering? Or am I thinking about one of the stand-alone Clarkson videos and/or Fifth Gear?

The problem is no malls are abandoned. Although Woodbridge does seem to be turning into a Mad Max set.

I only wish it were staggered vs. the UK show. Now we're going to have Top Gear overload and then many many more months of nothing.
