Of course I would extend the same sympathy to victims of a DUI driver. No matter who those victims were or what they did. No one deserves to have a crime committed against them, no matter what.

The thing is, this isn’t an active demonstration. It’s the refusal to participate in a patriotic demonstration that’s against your beliefs. That is often protected by employment law.
