This reminds me of an old white guy in a short story class I took. He wrote an outrageously racist story, part of which took place on a train going out of the city. He had all these notions about what goes on inside trains. Turns out he’d just never commuted anywhere in his life.

Wtf is wrong with you? The word you want isn’t “idiotic.” It’s “racist.”

who think the black kid dressed like a gang member is going to sit next to them

Your comment is the best thing I’ve read on LifeHacker ever.

Do NOT, under any circumstances, give unsolicited advice to your friends. That falls under the category of trying to put the air mask on your kids before putting on your own air mask first. The kids won’t cooperate and you’ll die trying.

Someone explain! You’re a victim of a crime and you know the name of the person who did it. You call this hotline to find out what other crimes he was convicted for? And what his immigration status is? How is that helpful? I mean, wouldn’t you just call the police? I don’t understand what you’re supposed to do with

What does Michael Hafford’s tweet mean?
He’s terrified of the possible consequences of THT being good? Like, women will rise up and demand their rights like never before and that might cause chaos?

Some of that stuff is so heartbreaking. All the really emotionally difficult things that women have to do alone, like caring for the sick and dying.

I don’t think you fully addressed the male privilege catch-22: “I don’t care about that level of cleanliness and you do, therefore you should do the chores.”

It’s like people are asking how her mother didn’t foresee that he’s a rapist at the same time that they are loudly proclaiming that he’s not a rapist.

But I’m sad that she blames the media instead of our larger culture. Ironically, not wanting the rapist to experience any consequences is the logical counterpart to

I am fascinated that there is some sort of curls classification system that everyone except me already knows about. And it doesn’t just have numbers! It has letters, too!

This was great until the fake Something Awful style Patrick one at the end.

I mean, wasn’t Parks and Rec pretty much all about the working class?

I worked with a 26 year old making six figures at a company that always makes the top 5 “best to work for” companies. He believed that he grew up working class because when he was a little kid his dad was a teacher. A white-collar job that requires a college education.

And by the time he was in high school, his dad

Right? He halfheartedly edged the employee to the side and then snuck back into his cozy little cabin to wait it out with a cup of coffee. Leaving the woman flight attendant to handle 3 different freaked out people plus a couple of semi-freaked bystanders plus 2 babies, 1 of which is now crying.

That’s like the ally version of mansplaining. I PERSONALLY AM INVOLVED SO NOW THINGS ARE BETTER.

Man, if I’d witnessed any of this I’d be steppin’ off that flight so fast. Both those guys were scary as hell. No way I’d fly with either on board.

I found a 1920s Girl Scout Handbook in a used book store. It was mesmerizing. One of the chapters was about being independent and making wise romantic choices. There was a passage about envisioning a future in which women “no longer throw themselves away on a penniless count.” I adore thinking about 12 year olds in

I do not understand Bernie’s perspective. Unless by perspective you mean “doesn’t have a uterus so refuses to care about uteri.”

Bernie Sander’s Facebook page prominently displays an MLK Jr poster with this quote: “Of all the inequalities, injustice in health care is the most shocking and inhumane.”

    Fucking. Hypocrite.
