I remember an All That sketch, in which he played a guy teaching French phrases, and one of the phrases was “the robot is sniffing my shorts.” And I don’t know why that has stuck with me for 20 years, but that absolutely slayed me at the time, and still does. Because I guess I’m a child.

I would have let you come over to my house to watch cable. 

Nickelodeon was formative, just like MTV. I would totally rewatch those shows. 

I’m sure this is 98% nostalgia talking (because I was right in the target audience for it), but I can’t think of anything that holds a candle to early 90s Nickelodeon. From the cartoons, to their Saturday night adult-lite offerings, to their summer-long ‘events’, it was such an enriching addendum to childhood.

As someone who watched every SNICK, every Saturday of their youth then every SNL every week into adulthood, I just constantly want to thank him for year after year of the undeserved happiness and laughter he’s provided for me and my boring ilk.

Look at you cable people, making me feel nostalgic for a group of shows I’ve been hearing about for 25 years. I JUST WANTED NICK; WAS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK? ALSO MTV LATER ON.
