Excuse me while I bang all her tracks for the rest of the day at work.

About time.

Aaaaahhhhh..caught up in the rapture of love 🎶 Anita Baker is grown folk music.

Well I know I’ll be listening to Anita Baker at work today. My mom loved her music when I was growing up, and would blast it throughout the house as she graded papers & wrote lesson plans on the weekends. Soundtrack to my childhood!

It’s dope BUT I wished that it was more focused on black talent also outside of the netflix universe.

Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx are mentioned seperately in the same Dirt Bag? Weird.

While I’m sure this was in the works before their Director of Comm was bounced for saying the n-word in a meeting and then, in a very-2018 move, merrily saying it again, the timing sure is juicy.

“I didn’t realize she was still on the map at all, musically. I just wince for her a lot the past few years, social media wise.”

I apologize, I didn’t realize she was still on the map at all, musically.

Yassss some truth. Jezebel hates Madonna and always has.

Yeah the covers for both series look pretty bad. I haven’t heard of The Dresden Files, but you’ve piqued my interest!

The Kushiel series is just ridiculously good, hot sexy fun, with a surprisingly comprehensive and psychologically sophisticated world — certainly much more than you’d expect with those book covers. YES…

A friend recommended Kushiel’s Dart to me, but that cover has trashy romance novel written all over it! Funny enough, I recommended Dresden Files to my sister’s friend and they said the same thing about the Dresden covers.

I give Netflix major props for at least trying to be more diverse.

I just watched it last night and while Glen Powell is delightful, Zoey Deutch needs to rein in the overacting and learn to chew with her fucking mouth closed.

I was mortally offended by that line, and somewhat amused. I think it was a nod to us Gen Xers and Baby Boomers so we could feel superior to the silly Millennials.

I am forever gray on jez but I believe Taye was Lucy's love interest on Ally Mcbeal, which is a neat factoid, maybe.

Kushiel’s Dart has the DNA of a romance, but it’s also secretly an epic political fantasy. I fucking love it, so so much.

There is a rom com on Netflix right now with a Lebanese and Iraqi lead, called Ali’s Wedding. Which I ABSOLUTELY LOVED, but I can see it not really being popular with the Jezebel set.

I agree on the diversity. I liked that Netflix tried with Taye and Lucy. I didn’t like the script, but that’s just me. I made it to Taye (looking at lemons on his desk) saying something like “What is this? I don’t like it.” I connected with that line, and bailed on the movie. But it looked gorgeously shot, and kind of…

I liked Set it Up and I’m looking forward to more Netflix romcoms, hopefully with more diversity in the the lead roles.
