I’m a little shocked. I thought ABC/Disney was going to try to ride that bigot train to bigot bucksville for as long as possible. But unless someone went to Roseanne’s homes and busted all her computers and phones, she was going to keep on Tweeting her racism, bigotry and conspiracy junk.
Is it too much to hope that the caftan line be offered on QVC? 15/10 would watch every second and buy nearly everything.
Yeah, that’s it. They wanted to believe she would see how it was in her best interest to STFU every once in a while. But instead she took the lead with the express intention of using it as a social springboard.
Someone was suggesting that they could just kill off Barr’s character and do the 2nd season that way, but she’d still be making money off of it, and yeah, have her name right there on the screen every week. This was definitely a Faustian bargain for everyone who was involved with this reboot, given what was publicly…
You’re exactly right - giving her the show emboldened her. Her hatred was already out there, and she figured if they signed her with all of that visible, she had license to keep up the hate. I’m impressed with ABC’s quick action, I think they should really be commended, even if it was dumb to give her a show in the…
I’m not sure whether to laugh or scream at Roseanne’s apology for what she said about Valerie Jarrett. Saying Valerie is the child of the Muslim Brotherhood and Planet of the Apes was not a fucking joke about her looks. It was an intentional invocation of the racist idea that black and brown folks are more ape than…
Babe, the show is called Roseanne.
I am amazed ABC cancelled - that had to hurt them to do so considering I imagine this show made them a boatload of cash. Good for them, though I’m not sure why they got in bed with Roseanne in the first place. When will people learn you cant spout your vile racism on the internet anymore and expect to remain…
I am watching CNN pontificate about ABC TV’s “righteous move”. Disney is too big to let this one bullshit show cause a problem for their brand. This was a money move, period. The risk finally outweighed the reward.
tHIS JUST IN:
I honestly did not see that coming. I figured they would do the usual and let it blow over. After all, Trump will say some shit worse in about eight or nine minutes. Good on ABC, I guess. I mean, it’s not they didn’t know she was a shitty person.
The best part about this video is the look on Jeff Goldblum’s face during the entire exchange.
I don’t care how people feel about Will/Jada, Red Table Talk is a good show. And, I haven’t been into talk shows like this since Oprah went away. I think the show flows better on Facebook as opposed to a television format.
