Since I’m a Black person who talks to other Black people I can assure you that Black people talk about this stuff in real life. Especially in places like beauty shops, church, family reunions, and other days that end in ‘Y’.
Hrm.. how do you explain the context of this sentence you wrote if you don’t believe that ‘blackness’ is something that exists?
I enjoy how you equate criticism for hate. I certainly don’t have the time to hate white people but what I *do* have the time for is to express the reality as I see it. I’m not sure as to why you believe that if a significant portion of Black people are perceiving the same reality and are personally responding to the…
Hrm.. I think you may be on the edge of a breakthrough. Is it possible that the network that brought you Arrow, Jane the Virgin, and whatever else has found that people who are Black AND White AND other races enjoy watching shows of about people who have experiences different than theirs? The difference in ratings…
Your media is weird. If anything, there was a ‘finally’ for Princess and the Frog because there were other identities who have been represented. (There’s a whole argument as to how well they were done.. poor Pocahontas!)
This example is perfectly presented in Big Little Lies. As a viewer it was a challenge for me to wrap my mind around what the show was presenting in one specific relationship. As it went on, I felt it was a very subtle but powerful way to step someone who may not have had that experience to key into how abusive,…
Representation = money.
Come again.
Read TheClash0613's post. It starts with:
Thank you. This is the clearest explanation I’ve read in some time.
Read below, TheClash0613 really spelled out that DACA isn’t an executive order and has references as to explain what’s going on.
And for the record, I actually do pay attention to other PoC’s mortality rates. Or even if they’re included and I watch the shows that have diverse casting to encourage this trend. So.. *shrugs*
Um.. if you go back to one of my previous posts I said ‘people of color’. I know this because I actually talk to other people of color. And people of color pay the closest attention to what happens to the characters that look like them in movies. That’s not racism.
If ‘you don’t see color’ then you’re literally ignoring who people actually are and obliterating acknowledgment of their identity and culture. As a person of color, knowing who exactly is in a room is a matter of survival.
I wish Prairie View was on the list... but I’m glad for the rest of the schools.
As a person of color this is something that me and other as people of color actually pay attention to. It’s not racist, it’s actually a compliment and giving major props to the Westworld producers for thinking outside of a institutionally racist paradigm.
Oh no!! I’m sure her Vevo will pick it up soon after? Hopefully?
In this article alone is a quote from her where she took responsibility for her actions:
I’m so glad TED got back to you with this important information!
