The Granddaddy of them all: Citizen Kane.

The ideas of virtual reality as a drug and virtual reality controlling real weapons have been explored numerous times, not just in anime.
It’s easy to take shots at Peter Jackson after the bloated monstrosities thst were the Hobbit movies. But as awful as they were, there were still moments where you could tell there’s still an immensely talented filmmaker in there somewhere. I really hope they were the rock bottom moment he needed to refocus himself…
More like the art of Chris Foss:
TV Shows allow for more in-depth storytelling, yes. But Snowpiercer isn’t a movie that needs any added depth. It’s set in a purely allegorical world that doesn’t make sense beyond the one very specific story it was trying to tell. Exploring it any further won’t strengthen the world; it will undermine it.
Yeah, youre right. Mirror, Mirror was bit of a misnomer. The episode makes it pretty clear that it’s set in an alternate history where humanity has gone horribly awry, not that everyone’s good/evil rating has been reversed.
The same way all soul patched should be categorized: Awful.
Shatner is always fun to watch, but having him replace Heston wouldn’t be an increase in hamminess at all. More like replacing a smoked ham with honey-baked.
Was just about to post this myself. Unless he’s voicing a CGI raccoon, Bradley Cooper is only believable as a douchebag.
All of Jodorowsky’s casting for Dune was amazing. I didn’t even care that much for the novel, but Orson Welles as Baron Harkonnen and Salvador Dali as the Emperor? That movie would have been legend.
Edit: replied to wrong post
Not pointing fingers at any show in particular here, but I’d say ten years after the big-screen series finale that killed off some of its most beloved characters is well past time to have said goodbye.
Well they do both seem to enjoy cannibalism of one form or another.
You should never have to feel ashamed for not having read something. There are far too many great books out there for someone to have read them all.
I liked it the first time I saw it. The second time I was just bored silly.
Seriously. I am so sick of sci-fi movies that promise scientific wonder, then just devolve into some quasi-religious bullshit.
There’s one more big thing that needs to be mentioned: Gene Roddenberry. Namely the strong idealism he brought to Star Trek, and by extension, Kirk. James T. Kirk wasn’t just a space adventurer, he was a paragon of morality. He had greater substance to him than merely being cool, which has allowed him to resonate far…
Kirk was a lover, but he was also smart. No way he didn’t use protection.
