Sandman is brilliant, no doubt. But it is definitely not built to appeal to mass audiences.

Meanwhile, I can't help but smile when I think of the anguish this must be causing Frank Miller.
Of course it's likely to be dark. All of the Harry Potter movies directed by David Yates have used a color palete that's consisted entirely of black, gray, and dull blue. As someone who prefers more brightly-colored movies (I watch a lot of cartoons) I've found the last four Harry Potter movies ugly to look at.
Bah, Spidey still looks like a big walking Fruit Roll-up.
I was also happy to see her in Burn After Reading. Of course, being a Coen Brothers comedy, it wasn't exactly realistic, but she was playing a role that wasn't an alien/elf queen/demon/robot and was distinctly female.
Eh, I think the fact that she's so strangely beautiful probably made it inevitable that she would be a favorite for weird roles, even if she hadn't done Orlando.
I'm pretty sure that Tilda Swinton IS David Bowie. Or more specifically, she's Ziggy Stardust, who split off from Bowie to become a separate being sometime in the 1980s.
I was wondering how they would make someone as pretty as Aidan Turner pass for a dwarf. Now I see he's just going to be a ridiculously pretty dwarf. I wonder if other dwarves resent his prettiness, or if they, being dwarves, mock him for not being dwarfly enough.
I had thought that having Natalie Portman fall madly in love with Thor based solely on how good he looked shirtless was a major problem with the movie, but based on the enthusiastic response here, it seems a little more plausible. Thanks, io9!
Uwe Boll should not be mentioned in the same breath as those hacks. He may make terrible movies, but they're at least relatively obscure low-budget affairs that haven't done nearly as much damage to the cinematic landscape as the Michael Bays of the world.
No, Dissociative Personality Disorder isn't a real thing. Dissociative Identity Disorder is the proper term for what used to be called Multiple Personality Disorder. It was changed to avoid confusion with personality disorders, which are a class unto themselves. And no, Rorschach does not have DID. He's just…
Yeah, one of the things I love about Irredeemable is that shows how Superman's ability to remain sane despite having godlike powers can itself be counted as a superpower. So even though it's a deconstruction, it also reinforces Superman's awesomeness.
Rorschach and Ozymandias were both insane. It's just that the insanity of one ended up canceling out the insanity of the other.
One that should have been included: Alan Rickman in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. That movie was a massive turd, but Rickman saved it with a high camp performance for the ages.
I was just talking to a friend about how Bane, Catwoman, Ra's Al Ghul, corrupt politicians, and the mafia just weren't enough villains for one movie. It's good to know that Christopher Nolan also acknowledges this fact. And that he is in no way completely clueless about how to conclude the series since his Joker…
Redesigning the bike makes sense to me. It's a cool design, but it's definitely a look that belongs in a cartoon from the 1980's. Of course, everything about Akira belongs in a cartoon from the 1980's, so we're really just back to being glad that the live action adaptation wasn't made.
I don't really see why they can't do both. I mean, what else does Warner really have going for it right now, especially since Harry Potter is finally wrapping up?
Well, Richard Donner made a good Superman movie a generation ago. I'm not really willing to give Warner much credit there, considering how insanely stupid some of their ideas for a Superman movie were before he was brought on board. And for his troubles, he got canned before he could even finish a second film.
Save their non Batman/Superman movies? Shouldn't Warner actually make a good Superman movie before you lump him in with Batman as a character that they actually know how to adapt properly?
BPRD, RIPD, You gotta Give Dark Horse credit, they definitely know how to stick with what they do best.
