If we stopped using private jets today, the reduction in carbon emissions would be unnoticeable. If we did all the little things we’re told to do, it’ll make barely a dent, because individual consumers aren’t the problem. If you can’t see that, you’re not trying.

Property owners pay taxes on unrealized gains every year. I’m taxed on the potential sales value of my home, not what I paid for it.

The naming thing has to do with insurance and crash testing and stuff like that. A new model of an existing line has less hurdles than an all-new line. Or somesuch.
