That stereotype has a little more truth to it to be honest. Many an immigrant, even after decades, after their own American children are born, can still tell you with conviction that they are grateful for the opportunities that are/were only available to them in America. I know I am. That doesn't mean we don't

I came here (USA in general, NYC specifically) 20+ years ago with no degree, no papers, and no relatives in country. I got legal eventually, but before then, it was a scary time. It was before 9/11 so it wasn't as ridiculous as it is now, but still no joke.

Mine is Dec 28th. As a kid that was fine because I never had to go to school on my birthday, and my folks never merged my Christmas and birthday present into one. In my old age, the only pain with my birthday is that it is exactly half way between Christmas and new years, so it's a tough day to party as people are

Here in the 'States, I'd consider our friendly, quota driven, local police forces to be one of the scariest military forces out there.

That ain't no Hank Williams song.

I'll answer for the majority of my of my towns residents and say "turn signals".

Also:

I was thinking wine from the slurred voice, but he seemed a bit squinty and rubbed his eyes a few times too. Possibly stoned? There's definitely delivery service in Brooklyn.

Jersey plates too, so not only can this person not park, but you know they can't drive either.

Ah yes, "they". You are, as we say in Ireland, an Amadan.

Enh, the view from mid-40's says "you've got some life left in you yet, kid".

Mrs Quirk got me a vintage bass as a (surprise) engagement present. Now x years later our kid plays that bass.

Thank you.

But what if Temura Morrison did his cameo on Modern Family as Jake from Once Were Warriors? I think we'd have an unforgettable night of TV.

All the goodies like the Nostromo and the Eagle from Space:1999 are here, so I humbly submit: the Speedo Ghost from 2000ad's Ace Trucking Co.

Yes! Been waiting to see a picture of this show up. I had the Mongram 1/25 kit of this back in the day.

H. R. Giger? Pastries? History suggests he'd be a baker specializing in shoes.

Johnny Alpha beat you to it, norms.

Bought it on my lunch hour today. Taking a break from it at home just to say thanks. Stomm, it's good.

Yep, I'm 42 and I still remember the first time I saw it in my granny's house in Dublin all those years ago. My brother and I loved sci-fi and we were huge fans of Space:1999, dinky Eagles and all, but man oh man, the one-eyed monster sucking people in is still a benchmark of scary for me. I have goosebumps right now
