Great article. I love how it goes through various countries' cinema and looks at periods that didn't get a lot of attention otherwise.

OK, I can understand why it would not be mentioned in the article above, but should you find your post-apoc environment to be particularly unfriendly, you may want to have on your bookshelf a copy of THE ANARCHIST COOKBOOK as well

In terms of ending #5, three of Irwin Allen's TV series, LOST IN SPACE, THE TIME TUNNEL and LAND OF THE GIANTS, all went out that way. And sorry to say, that was just not that satisfying when that happened...

Since two years ago, we got from the BBC the pic LENNON NAKED with Chris Eccleston playing John, does this mean we get a scene in the DOCTOR WHO biopic where Paul McCartney and/or Ringo Starr play one of the BBC Controllers of Programming?

Don't forget that one of the events that led to the story in this movie was a plague that killed off all cats (and dogs), leading to humans needing a new companion, from where it all starts to go downhill...

Agreed; this not so much "no budget" as it is "we got our hands on some neat toys *without* a studio underwriting us." Big, big difference here...

I'm willing to acknowledge that I don't have a lot of tolerance for things running a little too close together. And while it's troubling, if I did allow too many similarities between things to get in the way then I'd never be able to enjoy WEST SIDE STORY or SLEEPER, so yes, I can turn it off...
