That’s right! Jason Heller was the guy! WHO IS THE JASON HELLER OF TODAY???

Some of the songs are weaker than others, and the movie is pretty uneven in places, but Scrooge looking wistfully back on his childhood in the Christmas Past segment is just heartbreaking. And the “one that got away” segment when he is at work brings a tear every time.

Put the cravat on! No!

I was going to watch this, so thanks for the warning. When I was a wee lad, we watched the 1970 Albert Finney musical version every year. It still stands up - but a good part of that could be nostalgia. Well, that and Finney’s performance.

Thanks! Will check these out!

Hey, leave Satan out of this! That’s my guy!

Valid point - I was trying to pull up the old metal column from a few years back (which was amazing) and I couldn’t track it down.

Appreciate the thoughtful response, Alex. I guess I just miss ZMF so I am channeling his rage a bit.

Amen, brother. Also, user-comment synergy

I’d settle for anything that isn’t shit hip-hop or have that “laurel canyon sound”

Yeah, Monolord is some killer shit.

Same, all indie and hip-hop. Horror films and metal music - always disrespected.

No metal as usual. One of the highest grossing, most popular genres in the world and you got nothing. Angel Witch, Tool, Sabaton, Overkill, Opeth and more all released albums in 2019. Can you get one fucking metalhead on staff? AAAARRRRGHARRRHHAAAAH YEAHHH no

It is exactly the same thing as when the local crime bosses / gangs/ bikers will throw a street fair, donate to the local food pantry - look over here at the good stuff I do and don’t worry about all the despicable shit.

That’s just silly - I know for a fact that Saturnine guitarists are like Limp Bizkit’s entire discography in one instrument.

“World’s most irritating guitarist” eh? Belew’s work with King Crimson was fantastic! No one is more irritating than Kirk and his wah.

The music industry runs parallel to professional sports - as long as you can entertain us, you can be a total scumbag and still make bank. The other thing I struggle with is this - if I cut out all the artists that are shitty humans, I’m not left with much to listen to! Pink Floyd? The frivolous lawsuits, spitting at

I saw the movie theater version. It was visually stunning to be sure - and the singing was gorgeous when it showed up. I feel like this is not a great entry point for neophytes though - as the very slow movement and repetitive, hypnotic score may be too sedating for those of us that are used to constant stimulation.
