When the plane engines are running they provide significantly more power to the electrical system to keep things toasty. The battery systems alone are not adequate in extreme temperatures to keep the planes warm while sitting on the tarmac.

That being said the only reason they would be closed due to weather is if there was not enough staff open.

I think you need to hold the button down longer like 2 or 3 seconds to completly turn off the TC, I have a 2013 6-spd manual outback on it’s second warranty engine (god bless subaru) and even with the TC off I can barely make it do a 4 wheel drift.

Other single use appliances I could not live without: Toaster, espresso machine, waffle maker, citrus juicer. Ironically I do not have a popcorn maker, we usually make it on the stove in a 1950's 6 qt aluminum pot, it just works so well.
