This exactly. I knew a few people who had these V8 M3 brand new. I thought these looked great and had awesome V8 sound. However, ALL the people I knew with these beasts had mechanical or electrical issues that would not quit. Everyone got rid of theirs within a year or two. Good luck enjoying that car from under it,

This is what people forget. Also think of maintaining all those computers in 15-25 years. None of these cars are afternoon wrenching DIY machines.

BMWs gonna BMW...

I had a friend who had one of these and recently traded it in on a 240M. While the e91 was an absolute beast, it was also an absolute nightmare from a maintenance and repair standpoint.

You guys should track your FWD cars. I did for years with a Focus ST and will not be going back. It’s a fantastic car, but when you’re talking a friction circle, it’s far from optimal. And your front tires get destroyed because of them doing ALL of the load.

You’ve never driven in the snow before have you? Sharp turns and hard braking are completely what gets you in trouble. Applying power is generally what gets you out of it...

There was a pair of Subarus and an RS in the theater parking lot after the snow we just got having an absolute blast.

It’s just so much money for the overall experience unless you’re getting practicality out of the car.

A car’s greatness is not a direct result of its popularity or sales numbers.

I’m sitting in one as I type and my advice is DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT.

And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never knowing where to drift to
When the rain set in

The number of assumptions in this post is staggering. Every reason you’ve given to not buy the car could also be said for literally every other hot hatch on the market today.

Multiple M car owner here (one past: E30 M3; one present: S54 M coupe). Just picked up my RS two weeks ago and you took the exact words right out of my mouth. I have been saying the same goddamned thing to anyone who will ask.

What if I told you getting the manual was not the shit decision, but driving anywhere LA County was the shit decision?

“They only make it in a hatchback? If they don’t make a sedan I’m not interested.”
