This is amazing news!

? The cage performed as designed. It took an impact in the MOST open portion of the cage and CLOSEST to the driver. It took this impact from one of the narrower portions of a competitors car (front end). It was just about as bad of a wreck (during normal racing) that you will ever see in NASCAR and he suffered “minor”

Agreed. Gimmick spotlight should be on the team not the sponsor or sanctioning body. Sponsors come and go. Sanctioning bodies allow anyone who can pay a spot on the grid.

Is it safe to assume that Donald Trump was behind this move from race cars to marbles?

Thats a big stretch. Part of education is learning the pros and cons of things you can do. If you are barred from saying something, your bordering on censorship. A consumer should be provided information. Now putting limits on what the consumer can do is bordering on limits of freedom.

I apologize if I came across as defending the dealer completely. I agree with you. A part of educating yourself is to hear/talk about ways to accomplish things as well as their risks or trade-offs.

Well, isnt it always “up to the customer” on what to do? The dealership is just offering advise.....

I think YOURE missing the point. If you dont stick to cars, there will be no blog. Union up all you want. If there is no buyer, there is no website.

No, you are doing it wrong. The idea isnt to have a political discussion on an auto enthusiast website. But I suppose that is your whole agenda....be like that lunatic Gun Girl or Westboro Baptist Church people. All you care about is making other people upset and then acting as if it was their issue they got upset.

I would say that simply stopping to make the phone call to your Porsche Dealer likely cost Bill Gates more money than the car was worth. He makes something like $23k a minute.

100% Agree. You could still FEEL the authors had their own opinions and the Morning Shift was always very biased BUT there was still professional restraint and some elegance in the writing. Now its like a fucking bloodbath with Ballaban at the helm. And fuck me, his content is decent....but his EIC badge went straight

Oh ok, only your opinion matters? Got it. You can find another comments section to agree with your political views if I made you so upset.

I’ll be here all week, asking the same question in the comments. At some point, you have to force change and I will do my part to bother all you other commenters in the comments section about how it is stupid to talk about politics on a automotive enthusiast site.

Wrong. It should be about Automobiles. Not how the President spent an hour of his time at Daytona.

Its only a matter of time before this is “Jalopnik - Democratic or Die”

I mean I can completely understand an author having a certain “tone” where their ideals become apparent without flat out yelling at the audience.

I would like to know how President Trump and the Republican Party are going to somehow make this a bad car.

Furthermore, the LAST thing that people need to be concerned with on this site is politics in racing. Tell us about the RACING. Tell us about the condition of Newman. Tell us about the new rules that effected the race yesterday. Tell us about literally anything else other than some conspiracy theory about why the

Sports are, of course, deeply political. They always have been, and forms of racing in particular have been since at least the rise of the ancient Athenian Miltiades, who in the late 6th Century BCE used the platform afforded to him by his father’s success as a chariot racer to become a general.
