The trans on the 2st gen is TERRIBLE. BUT, you can really smooth out the experience if you shift manually and time getting on/off the gas with the delay in the gear selection. You can also left foot brake, while manually downshifting and blipping the gas to rev match to fix the shitty downshifts.
