I can’t tell from this picture, but honey bee looks like he’s graduated from coke to something worse as there are worse things.

I am envisioning Fury Road......but with Vulcans.

“probably because the answer to that question is almost certainly “fascism” in some context”

Indeed. I like to think that the “Alliance” in Firefly is actually a view of the “Federation” from the position of its discontents. Not “evil” per se, but a massive, faceless, bureaucracy the main concerns of which are

I’d love to see a series that takes place during the Great Awakening. It could be ST’s Knights of the Old Republic.

Also, people tend to forget that the Vulcans are only the way they are because of a series of genocidal civil wars that brought them very close to extinction and basically obliterated the ecology of their planet. It took them about 1,500 years to rebuild. The Vulcan we see in Star Trek is at the tail-end of a

It can’t be communist. The Star Fleet has hierarchy. Picard’s family owns a vineyard. If the recent movies are accurate, Kirk’s stepdad (or Mother’s BF) has a farm and a car. The Voyagers of the Starship Enterprise don’t own the Starship Enterprise collectively. None of this would exist in communist society.

Is there even such a thing as Utopian fiction? I’m struggling to think of an example, and I don’t actually buy that Star Trek is Utopian fiction, because it rarely, if ever, actually deals with the reality of a Utopia. It basically says “all this space exploration stuff is possible because everyone on Earth learned to

Don’t forget local offices and other down-ballot issues that benefited from increased turnout in certain demographics. The Dems had some major wins on the local level today that shouldn’t be discounted because longshots didn’t happen.

A lot of people seemed to believe that the dems taking the Senate was somehow a possibility and are now devastated. Pretty wild as that was always a big long-shot.

If they manage to take back the House I will count it as a win and be happy about it. I am not wallowing in misery over something that was never a real

No one ever said this wasn’t going to be a long uphill, battle. The idea they would ever be able to turn the Senate was mostly a pipe-dream, although the push in Senate races was necessary to build that infrastructure for later. If they manage to wrestle control of the House back I will count that as a miracle.

It doesn’t matter if it’s by 1 or 50 seats, taking the house is huge. It kills the GOP’s agenda until 2021 and makes real investigations into Trump possibly.

The senate map did advantage was just too big to overcome.

Sorry if I’m misreading what you’re saying but I have a question.

How would a Democratic candidate lose their bid for the House if he or she has more votes than the Republican candidate? There’s no Electoral College for Congress.

People are really gutted about Florida but Dems were never going to take the Senate.

Eh, I mean as much as people shit on Silver for 2016, he was pretty spot on. Trump was around a 1/3 chance in winning, just meant the right (read: wrong) votes had to fall in the right places and that’s exactly what happened.

Nate Silver and 538, at least, were not embarrassed.

If the Dems don’t take the House all this Republican panic will turn into insufferable Republican gloating. America, I hope you spared us from that.

“I’ve heard from two screenwriting profs now that can’t fathom how people enjoy it”

Holy shit. This dude has heard from two people who are totally screen-writing professors!!! Pack it in guys!

fwiw I have given every DCEU movie a fair shake on it’s own merit (hell I have seen all of them in the damn theater), they have been largely disappointments with a few bright spots that I have over and over again called out. I’ve also been critical of Marvel movies and Star Wars movies (even The Last Jedi), this is

Where can I watch the films written by those professors?

My actual first response to looking at this picture was literally that he was probably on a lot of coke.
