I just ran across WeatherMate, a portable Windows app that provides the same functionality. Of course, it only runs on Windows, and it uses [weather.com] (not always the most accurate), but it can read the weather forecast to you. That's worth something.

I only give out my Google Voice number and I rarely have it forward to any of my phones. That way I get an email (which I only check periodically) with the transcript of the voicemail so I can choose to talk when it's convenient .
